Join us for our next Boardroom Breakfast in Paignton.

Being a business owner can sometimes feel like a lonely job.

There are plenty of people who can offer advice, but often the most useful conversations are with other business owners who understand first-hand the decisions, pressures and opportunities that come with running a company.

That’s exactly what our Boardroom Breakfasts are designed to create.

Join Matt West, Relationship Manager at Allica Bank, and Jess Wiggins, global leadership consultant and former lawyer, for a relaxed morning bringing together a small group of established business owners from across Devon and the surrounding area.

This isn’t about filling a room with as many people as possible.

Attendance is capped at 16 guests, allowing everyone around the table to contribute, exchange ideas and get to know one another properly.

Following breakfast and introductions, we’ll move into a discussion held under Chatham House Rules, giving guests the opportunity to speak openly about the challenges and opportunities they are seeing in their businesses.

There’s no set presentation or lengthy panel session. Instead, the focus is on useful conversation between peers – what’s working, what’s changing and what business owners are thinking about next.

It’s a chance to step away from the day-to-day, strengthen your local network and hear perspectives from people facing many of the same decisions.

Event schedule

8:30am – Arrival: Arrive, grab a tea or coffee and meet the other guests joining us for the morning.
8:45am – Breakfast and introductions: Enjoy breakfast around the table while getting to know your fellow business owners and hearing a little about each business represented.
9:00am – Chatham House Rules conversation: An open discussion focused on the challenges and opportunities guests are currently seeing across their businesses, sectors and the wider economy.
10:15am – Wrap up: We’ll draw together some of the main themes from the morning before wrapping up at 10:30am.

Your hosts

Matt West

Matt is a Relationship Manager at Allica Bank, working closely with established businesses across the South West. Through his Boardroom Breakfasts, Matt brings local business owners together in a small and informal setting where they can make connections, share experiences and have practical conversations with their peers.

Jess Wiggins

Jess is a global leadership consultant and former lawyer with 20 years of leadership experience. She combines that experience with evidence-backed leadership tools and strategies to help leaders and their teams achieve sustainable high performance.

Jess will co-host the breakfast alongside Matt, bringing her leadership experience to the table and helping create a thoughtful, open conversation around the challenges and opportunities facing business owners.

Valuations	Full RICS valuation
Interest	Rolled. Rates are fixed and charged daily in arrears
Refurbishment type	Cosmetic: Works to improve speed of letting and compliance with regulations. Examples include redecoration, EPC improver works, compliance with utility regulations, boiler upgrades, modernisation. Light: As with Cosmetic, but higher cost plan. Medium: Loft conversions, reconfigurations, single story extensions, commercial to residential schemes.
